The Bellwood-Antis junior high girls basketball team traveled to Glendale on Thursday.
After a very tough start of the week against Southern Huntingdon and Williamsburg, a pair of undefeated squads, the Lady Blue Devils built up a big lead after three periods and hung on for a 31-28 win to improve their season log to 4-3.
Emily Derr keyed the Lady Blue Devils with 15 points and Alycia Hippo added six for the B-A girls.
“I was very pleased with the way the girls played in the first half,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Chris Walker. “We were ahead 20-8 at halftime. Emily Derr had a really nice game today, she carried us offensively. We need to get better at playing with a lead. We were up 29-16 going into the fourth quarter and Glendale outscored us 13-2 in the fourth to get back in the game. Turnovers continue to haunt us. We can\’t keep turning the ball over at the pace we have been.”
