A Bellwood woman suffered severe injuries in a one-vehicle accident earlier this month in Antis Township.
State police reported 24-year-old Kristin A. Weiand was traveling along River Road on Sept. 2 when the accident happened at 5:20 p.m. Authorities said Weiand was traveling at an excessive rate of speed. Her vehicle traveled off the road to the left and struck a sign.
Weiand’s car then traveled over an embankment and into a creek. The vehicle came to rest on its roof and was partially submerged in the water. Fire and rescue personnel extricated Weiand.
She was then transported to the Altoona Trauma Center for treatment of her injuries. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt and her vehicle had severe damage.

A hit-and-run accident happened on State Route 764 at the intersection of Kings Highway in Antis Township earlier this month.
Police said the accident happened on Sept. 2 at 9:08 p.m. when 38-year old Mark Decker was stopped at the intersection of the two roads waiting for a red light signal.
The hit-and-run vehicle hit Decker’s car in the rear. When Decker pulled over to exchange information, the other driver pulled their vehicle around Decker’s car and struck its right front side. The other driver then fled the scene by traveling north on Route 764 at a high rate of speed.
The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a white SUV driven by a white male. The vehicle was said to have damage to its front, left front and left side.
Decker was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Hollidaysburg state police investigated another hit-and-run accident earlier this month.
The accident happened at 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 3 along State Route 4023 near the Tipton Reservoir in Antis Township. An unidentified motorcycle operator crossed into the oncoming lane and into the path of a car driven by 18-year old Norma Reifer of Houtzdale.
The motorcycle’s left side struck the left-rear quarter panel of Reifer’s car. The impact caused the bike’s driver to lose control and lay down the motorcycle.
Police said the motorcyclist appeared to have injuries to his arms and was not wearing a helmet. The biker reportedly became belligerent with Reifer who left the scene for safety reasons and to obtain a signal on her cell phone to call police. Reifer said it appeared the biker was under the influence of alcohol.
Reifer returned to the scene to meet with police, but by that point the biker had left the accident location.
The biker was described as a white male in his early 50s with dark but graying hair and dark but graying facial hair. He was said to be wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.
Reifer was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Her car had minor damage.
