Jay E. Jensen entered eternal life on September 28, 2005. He was born on June 14, 1927 to the late Dorothy (Leahy) and Simon Jensen in Tyrone.
Jay was a resident of Kentucky, New York and Broadford before moving to Raritan 46 years ago. He was a graduate of Tyrone High School and received a B.S.E.E. degree from Penn State. Dedicated to his country, he served in the Navy during WWII and was awarded the Victory Medal. Jay was employed as an electrical engineer at Mobil Corporation in Pennington, NJ, where he was an inventor and the holder of several patents, including fuel storage tanks.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, especially fresh water fishing; flower gardening and traveling throughout the United States. Jay was an avid fan of Penn State, his “alma mater”. He also was a member of RCA luncheon group. All will remember him as a loving, caring and generous man devoted to his family; especially his grandchildren.
Jay will be sadly missed by his wife Phyllis (Fay) Jensen of Raritan; two sons, Erik and daughter-in-law Judy of South Jordan, Utah and Chris and daughter-in-law Jackie of Sandy Hook, Conn.; five grandchildren: Katie, Karlie, Matthew, Andrew and Thomas; a sister Marianne Vilbig of Texas; a niece; three nephews and his Irish Setter, Paddy. He is predeceased by his former wife, Beverly Jensen who died October 12, 1997 and two grandchildren.
A visitation will be Sunday, October 2, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bongiovi Funeral Home, corner of Bell Avenue and Anderson Street, Raritan, NJ. Funeral services will be Monday, October 3, 2005, beginning with a visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by an 11 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Bernard Church, Rt. 22, Bridgewater, NJ. Entombment will be held at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ.
