Ronald Frank Jr., 26, of Tyrone was arraigned yesterday before District Justice Fred Miller on charges stemming from a crash that occurred on July 20 where his passenger was thrown from the vehicle when it struck an embankment.
Frank was arraigned on charges of DUI (second offense), felony count of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, felony count of accidents involving injury or death while not properly licensed, driving while license was suspended and other related summary traffic offenses.
Frank failed to post bail and was placed in Blair County Prison. A preliminary hearing is set for next Tuesday, July 31.
The one vehicle accident occurred along SR 4031, near the Vail area of Snyder Township.
Hollidaysburg State Police report that Frank was traveling north on the Back road to Vail from Tyrone Borough. He was traveling too fast, lost control of his vehicle, skidded off the road and struck an embankment on the west side of the roadway.
Frank was treated at Tyrone Hospital for minor injuries and submitted to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content.
The passenger, Donald Brower, 22, of Tyrone, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to Altoona Regional Health System. He remains in the ICU unit of Altoona Hospital.
Another passenger, Jeremy Decker, 22, of Tyrone, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
