The Tyrone junior high football team played a rare Wednesday game at Bellefonte last evening.
The Little Eagles scored first on a six-yard run by Josh Crowell and Levi Reihart booted the extra point for a 7-0 second-quarter Tyrone lead that was the only score in the first half.
Although the Golden Eagles moved the ball up and down the field, they were unable to put any more points on the scoreboard.
Bellefonte put a touchdown on the board on a six-yard run and then going for two points and the lead, converted a pass play to take an 8-7 advantage that proved to be the final score.
Crowell had his number called 25 times and responded with 192 yards rushing.
On defense, Jeremy Barlett intercepted two Bellefonte passes and Ross Black recovered a Red Raider fumble.
“This was pretty much the same as the last few weeks,” remarked Tyrone junior high coach Dan Plummer, who has seen his team tie Philipsburg-Osceola 0-0 and lose three other games by a total of six points and post their one win 30-0 over Bald Eagle Area in the past five weeks. “I was pleased with the performance of our defense. Our offense was able to move the ball well, but wasn’t able to get the ball into the end zone after Josh’s first score. Hopefully we can score some points in what is left on our schedule.”
Tyrone will host Bishop Guilfoyle on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 5:30 p.m.
