The Bellwood-Antis girls junior high basketball team put out the welcome mat for Glendale. The Blue Devils were in the process of defeating the Lady Vikings, when the wheels fell off and the B-A girls went into a tailspin, ending up on the short side of a 20-17 final score.
After winning a three-point game in the first meeting at Glendale, the Lady Blue Devils drop the second meeting by the same spread to fall to 7-10, getting outscored 10-0 in the third quarter.
Alycia Hippo led the B-A girls with six points and Emily Derr added five.
Whitney Strong led Glendale with a game-high eight points.
“For the second straight game we fell apart in the third quarter,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Chris Walker. “We lead 12-6 at half, and were outscored 10-0 in the third quarter. We beat ourselves today with mental mistakes. We continue to struggle with little things like catching the basketball and dribbling. We have five games left and we need to continue to work hard and try to improve.
Next up for the Bellwood-Antis girls is a home game on Monday against Penns Valley with tip-off set for 4 p.m.
