The Tyrone Hospital Development Council invites the public to share the spirit of the holiday season and support Tyrone Hospital’s vital healthcare mission by donating a gift of light through the Development Council’s fifth annual “Tree of Light”.
In November, trees will be placed in the main lobby of the hospital and angels will be placed on the trees to remember deceased loved ones, to honor those living, or to recognize a business or organization. Those wishing to purchase an angel may do so by submitting their donation of $5 or more for each name being honored or remembered, and a completed Tree of Light form to the marketing office at Tyrone Hospital.
In addition to the interior trees, a lighted tree will be located at the exterior of the main entrance of Tyrone Hospital. The tree will be illuminated in a ceremony to be held at the hospital on Monday, December 6 at 6 p.m. with a reception to follow.
All proceeds from the Tree of Light will be donated to Tyrone Hospital to purchase a teleradiology system at an estimated cost of $30,000. The teleradiology system will allow the hospital to transmit digital diagnostic images, such as CT scans and MRI images, to physicians via the internet. This will give the hospital greater access to physicians who can interpret test results and also provide patient test results more quickly during evening and weekend hours.
Randy Miles, Sr., Chairman of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council, said this is the fifth year for the Tree of Light in Tyrone.
“We have established a new tradition in our community. The display of the lighted tree is to remind us of those we love and remember. It also symbolizes the hospital’s mission to care for the community and represents the caring spirit of many individuals, businesses, and other organizations who support their friends and neighbors by supporting Tyrone Hospital,” he said.
Miles added the Development Council has raised about half of the amount needed to buy the teleradiology system. “We need to raise another $15,000 to achieve our goal.”
Donations are currently being accepted for the Tree of Light, which runs through the end of December.
