Tyrone and Bellwood-Antis battled in the season finale for both schools in junior high girls basketball on Thursday afternoon at Bellwood.
Tyrone began the game on an 8-0 run and led 16-4 at halftime in a 29-20 Lady Eagles’ win.
In the third quarter, B-A got the lead under 10 quickly by going to the boards, scoring on offensive rebounds and getting to the foul line.
Rachel Emigh led all scorers with 12 points for Tyrone, Crystal Waite added five points and Teanna Kobuck and Suzanne Zimmerman each had four points.
“We talked at halftime about the level of play we knew B-A would be at in the third quarter and we wanted to match that,” said Tyrone coach Kerry Naylor. “It wasn’t easy because their girls were committed to working hard, especially on the glass, coming out of the locker room.”
An Emigh 3-pointer in the third quarter put Tyrone back up by double-figures at 21-10 and the Lady Eagles were able to hold on from there.
“The girls played with a lot of desire, and I think that became a strength for us as the season went on,” Naylor said.
