The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce has scheduled Lunch-n-Learn and Business After Hours events for the month of November.
The Lunch-n-Learn is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Burley’s Restaurant. The speaker will be Ann Brown from the state’s Department of Labor and Industry.
Brown works for the department’s Unemployment Compensation Tax Services. She is currently the tax office manager of the Altoona Field Accounting office, which serves employers in Blair, Bedford, Huntingdon and Centre counties.
Her presentation is titled “Understanding Unemployment Compensation Tax.” Brown will touch on a variety of issues including: how to keep unemployment compensation costs low; the Internet and unemployment compensation; the unemployment compensation rates and employee versus independent contractor concerns.
The cost for the Lunch-n-Learn is $15. Seating is limited, and reservations are required.
Also, the annual Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce Thanksgiving Dinner has been scheduled for Thursday, November 17 at the Bull Pen Restaurant.
The dinner is part of the Chamber’s Business After Hours events that are held at area businesses and organizations each month. The Bull Pen, The Daily Herald and the Richard and Ann Searer Funeral Home will once again be co-sponsors of the dinner.
Attendees are urged to bring their business cards to be selected for the many door prizes that will be awarded. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. and run until 7 p.m.
The cost to attend is $5, and reservations must be made in advance.
Call Executive Director of the Chamber, Rose Black, at 684-0736 by Monday, November 14 to make reservations for both the Lunch-n-Learn and Business After Hours events.
