At last night’s Snyder Township meeting, supervisors met in a brief executive session to discuss the 18 possible candidates to fill the vacated secretary/treasurer position.
The position became open when longtime township secretary/treasurer, Viola Dysart, turned in her resignation to the board two weeks ago.
After the executive session, supervisors told those in attendance that Ann Meredith Dillon was chosen to fill the vacancy, effective today, Tuesday, December 6 at 8 a.m. Supervisor Jim Miller was absent from the meeting, so the decision was made by supervisors Jim Chronister and Charlie Diehl.
Since there wasn’t a secretary at last night’s meeting, Linda Weaver volunteered to record the minutes.
Another issue that was discussed is how the township needs three signatures to sign checks. Supervisor Charlie Diehl said that supervisor Jim Miller had taken his bonding or signature stamp, which is township property, and that township solicitor, Allen Gibboney, had to call Miller to get it back.
With only two supervisors present and no secretary, Gibboney, is currently filling in as the third party. Gibboney is authorized to stamp the checks after the supervisors sign them.
With all the problems being discussed, supervisor Jim Chronister told the people during the meeting, “The township is still going to run.”
A special township meeting is scheduled for December 19 at 9 a.m. to discuss the budget and any other general business issues. The 2006 reorganization meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 3 at 9 a.m. Newly elected supervisors Buddy Daughenbaugh Jr. and Jim Burket will then appear on the board, replacing Chronister and Miller.
In other township news, supervisors:
• approved the EADS Group’s request for signed work orders for a traffic study at Clay Avenue and Hospital Road and a review of Kunzler’s Letter of Map Revision and
• approved the tax exoneration list.
