An 17-year-old Altoona girl was critically injured in an accident that happened in the Ponderosa restaurant parking lot in Logan Township last night.
Police Chief Ron Heller confirmed that Erin Holland was injured after she left the restaurant to place some items in a parked vehicle.
According to Heller, an RD 5 Tyrone woman, Elaine Dixon, was operating her vehicle and first hit a pole in the parking lot. Her vehicle then accelerated and hit the girl. The teen was pushed into a snow bank. Heller said the girl was pinned between Dixon’s car and a parked car. He said Dixon’s car hit a second car, which in turn hit a third parked vehicle.
Heller said he was aware of media reports that the girl’s leg was amputated, but he could not confirm that. He did say the teenager suffered a severe leg injury and was transported to Altoona Hospital and later to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
