The Tyrone Junior High Boys basketball teams entertained the Bald Eagle Area Eagles Friday at the Tyrone High School gym, and sent the Eagles home with two losses.
The eighth graders got things started in the pre-lim game where Bald Eagle made things tough on the Golden Eagles in the first half, being tied with Tyrone after one quarter 9-9, and only being down four at the half 17-13.
But Levi Riehart and Eric Desch changed the pace in the third quarter by fueling a Golden Eagle 19-4 run that put them up to stay at 36-17. During that run, Riehart scored eight of his 10 points, and Desch six of his game high 14.
Tyrone cruised through the fourth quarter to win 42-18.
Along with Riehart and Desch, Shane Walker and Jordan Taylor provided six points apiece to keep the Golden Eagles undefeated at 11-0.

Tyrone’s ninth graders got rolling early against a tough-minded Bald Eagle team, taking a 16-5 first quarter lead and extending that to 28-12 by halftime.
John Shaffer, fresh off a great game against Lewistown earlier in the week, scored 12, and Nate Dane eight, as Tyrone exerted it’s advantage in the paint.
After losing point guard Kyle Updyke to an injury late in the first half, Bald Eagle tried to take advantage in the second half by pressing Tyrone, but guards Ben Ingle and Anthony Hennaman stayed steady as they fought the ball up the floor, finishing the third quarter up 17 at 37-20.
Then the Golden Eagles finished strong down the stretch as they routinely broke the press and outdistanced Bald Eagle 15-3 to win with a score of 52-23. Tyrone’s version of the twin towers, Shaffer and Dane, finished with 15 points each, as they dominated the inside game, and made it difficult for Bald Eagle to fuel a comeback.
The win raises Tyrone’s record to 10-1.
