Two Tyrone Area High School students received medals for their performances on the Floor Excercise, Bronze division, in the PIAA Individual Gymnastic State competition held at the Chambersburg Middle School, Friday, 17 Feb. 2006.
Jordan DelBaggio, a Junior, received a ninth place medal for her score of 7.467. Jordan is the daughter of Edward and Jody DelBaggio, 2791 Pennington Road, Tyrone. Jill Hiller, a Senior, received a fifth place medal for her score of 7.800. Jill is the daughter of Scott and Debbie Hiller, RR#1, Box 535, Tyrone and also competed on Bars and Beam in the competition.
To qualify for States Floor competition, the participants must average a 7.775 on a minimum of 4 sanctioned competitions.
Both Jordan and Jill participated in last year\’s competition. The duo compete with the Huntingdon Community Center\’s gymnastic team, coached by Rita Hollibaugh, and had been on the Tyrone YMCA team before it closed.
At present there are four girls that compete in gymnastics from Tyrone at Huntingdon, and a couple for the Hollidaysburg YMCA team.
