PennDOT announced work will begin next week on Interstate 99 between the Bellwood to Bald Eagle exits in Blair County.
The contractor will set traffic control devices limiting north and southbound traffic to one-lane through the construction zone starting early during the week of March 27. Short delays are possible.
The overall project involves the rehabilitation of I-99 between the Bellwood and Bald Eagle interchanges with concrete patching and a bituminous overlay. The existing median barrier and bridge approach slabs will be replaced. Additional work will include shoulder, guide rail and drainage upgrades.
The project will also include the reconstruction of the northbound on-ramp at the Tyrone-interchange. The reconstruction will involve an approximately four week detour of the ramp.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc., of northern Bedford County is the contractor for the $10,697,137 project. The project will last for two construction seasons with the project anticipated for completion in mid-summer 2007.
