On Saturday, the residents, associates and administrators of Epworth Manor honored the 221 individuals who have given unselfishly of their time to serve as volunteers.
During the past year, these volunteers have provided more than 13,000 hours of service to the residents of Epworth Manor.
The theme of this year’s volunteer appreciation celebration was “All Hats off to the Epworth Manor Volunteers”. This year, the guest speakers were members of the Red Hat Society.
“We are thankful that our volunteers provide a variety of services such as transporting residents to therapy sessions and activity programs, assist the beautician and barber as well as assisting residents during meal times,” said Epworth Manor volunteer coordinator, Carol Ayers, who presented gifts of appreciation to each volunteer at the celebration.
Additional examples of services that volunteers provide at Epworth Manor include working in the greenhouse, mending residents’ clothing, conducting Bible study groups, creating floral arrangements and personal activities such as accompanying residents on shopping trips and outings or just spending time visiting. Some student volunteers are a part of the Health Tech program, Tyrone Middle School student council and the honor society of Tyrone High School.
“These people bring love, laughter, reassuring hugs and companionship to our residents, and we are very grateful for the difference they make in the lives of our residents,” said Robin Stern, executive director. “At Epworth Manor, we recognize the importance of our volunteers and their commitment to bring happiness to our community. This celebration is just a small expression of our appreciation to our volunteers for the countless hours of service they provide.”
