Thomas O’Brien, M.D. obstetrician and gynecologist of the Women’s Health Center of Tyrone is sponsoring a free educational program in recognition of National Women’s Health Week May 14-20.
“The Fourth Annual Mother Daughter Day is an event that is open to all women of all ages,” said Dr. O’Brien. “We sponsor the event annually to create an opportunity for women to spend time together learning about health topics. Whether it is friends, neighbors, mothers, daughters, or sisters, women of all ages are welcome to attend.”
Each year the event features different educational topics.
This year three topics will be addressed as follows:
• Author and former WTAJ-TV news reporter Marissa Carney will share her personal story of addiction as a self mutilator or “cutter” and explain how she triumphed and broke free from her addiction;
• Dede Kazmaier, image consultant with Color Me Beautiful will present “Why Look Okay When You Can Look Terrific” and provide tips to show women how a few little changes can make a huge difference in one’s appearance and
• Georgine Safko-Dodson, MSN, RN Certified Holistic Practitioner will discuss “Caring for the Caregiver” providing information on how caregivers can stay healthy while meeting the demands of caring for others.
The Fourth Annual Mother–Daughter Day will be held Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to noon in the classroom at Tyrone Hospital. Reservations are recommended as seating is limited. The program is free and open to the public.
