Dora May Swartz, 88, formerly of Pennsylvania House, Tyrone went to be with her Lord and savior Tuesday, May 2, 2006.
She was born January 14, 1918 in Ironsville, a daughter of Leroy Floyd Shildt Sr. and Dolly LaVerne Moore who died when Dora was two-years-old. She was then raised by her step-mother, Ruth Webb Shildt. On January 31, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio, she married Walter B. Swartz. He died January 10, 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Ramona Ward and husband Richard of Tyrone, Roberta Merwin and husband Douglas of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren, Richard Heath Ward of Seattle, Washington, Nicolee Ward and Ramona Lanee Ward, both of Tyrone and a brother, Kenneth of Indiana, Pa. She was preceded in death by a son, Walter B. Swartz Jr., a granddaughter Lavonne Ward, three brothers, Homer “Pete”, Leroy “Sonny” and Richard “Doc” Shildt and two sisters, Ruth “Kelly” Kaspick and Helen “Sweetie” Schneider.
Mrs. Swartz had attended Grace Baptist Church, Tyrone for many years. She was a 1936 graduate of Tyrone High School and was formerly employed at Big Yank, Tyrone.
Dora enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, walking and being dedicated to her family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Richard Shildt officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. There will be no public viewing.
