As summer begins, so does the concert season.
Celebrating its 21st year, the Tyrone Regional Arts Council announces 12 concerts and three family movies for area residents to enjoy.
Summer Sundays at Reservoir Park’s amphitheater will feature the music of the big bands, Dixieland, rock, and country.
On July 9 the energetic music of Dixieland, Ragtime and the Blues will open the series as the Summit City Saints Dixieland Band performs.
The 17-piece “Big Band Sound, Inc.” will bring back the glory days of the forties with that incomparable big band sound on July 16.
“Keystone Society of Swing” will continue the music of the big bands on July 23 with an eighteen-piece orchestra.
Classic rock, and country is the specialty of “Broken Penny” who performs on July 30.
The consummate performer “Zupe” will entertain on August 6 with his special stage show.
The Reservoir Park series concludes with the one and only “Lou Stein Band” featuring musicians from across the country.
Summer Sunday concerts begin at 6 p.m. and in the event of rain will be held at the Lutheran Church on Logan Avenue. August 20 will be the annual “Organ and Voice Concert” beginning at 7 p.m. in the Lutheran Church.
Fun Friday provides entertainment each Friday evening from June 9 through July 21. Held at the downtown City Hotel Park, the concerts will begin at 7 p.m. with three family outdoor movies scheduled to begin at dusk in the M&T lot on Tenth Street.

• June 23 – “Second More Than Forever” Youth Concert
• June 30 – EBC Praise Team (gospel / inspirational)

• July 21 – Family Movie at Dusk
In the event of rain, Fun Friday concerts will be held in the Tyrone Community Players building on Logan Avenue and Family Movies in the Emmanuel Baptist Church on 10th Street.
This summer’s concert series is made possible by a grant from the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and Tyrone Borough. Family Fun Movies are made possible by a partnership with the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
