Mrs. Alice L. Sunderland, 84, formerly of Altoona, and a resident of the Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg since December of 1999, died Thursday evening, May 18, 2006 at the home.
She was born Aug. 12, 1921 in Altoona, the daughter of Clarence and Mayno (Kepner) Rhodes. She was twice married, first to Walter R. Stoner who died April 8, 1946 then to Walter E. Sunderland who died Jan. 12, 1997.
She is survived by a daughter Linda Fetzer and her husband Murray of Tyrone; grandson Sean McGraw (Sara) of Arlington, VA; great grandson Griffin McGraw; three step-grandchildren: Lori Jones (Lee) in Florida; Murray Fetzer II (Mary) of Ginter, PA; Noelle Capparelle (Toby) of Bellefonte; four step-great grandchildren: Rachel Jones, Susan Fetzer, Isabelle Fetzer and Jayden Capparelle; twin brother, Dallas Rhodes of Sedona, AZ and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by a brother Fred Rhodes.
She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Altoona, formerly active in the Altoona Order of the Eastern Star, Delphi Chapter No. 65.
She was formerly employed as an office worker at the Altoona A & P bakery for many years.
Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. at the St. James Lutheran Church, 1407 8th Ave., Altoona with the Rev. Aaron Erdley officiating.
Friends were received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone on Sunday.
Interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
