Don Wagner, Talmadge Cupp and Jim Bigelow, all of Tyrone, joined eight members of the Garver Memorial YMCA in Roaring Spring and participated in the 60 years and over First Al Hunter Invitational Basketball Tournament held recently in Frederick, Maryland.
The three four-man teams which represented the Garver Memorial YMCA were the only teams from Pennsylvania in the tournament, while there were a total of 10 teams from Maryland.
All three of the local teams from the Garver Memorial YMCA finished in third place in their respective divisions.
Players who participated in the Al Hunter tournament ranged in age from 60 to 80 years of age.
The Tyrone contingent has been practicing with the Garver YMCA members each Friday morning for the past two years to prepare for competition such as the Frederick tournament.
