John Wayne Zindel, 66, of Malabar, FL, formerly of Tipton lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on May 13, 2006 in Florida.
He was born Jan. 4, 1940 in Tyrone, a son of the late Wayne H. and Catherine (Fisher) Zindel. He married Lucinda (Cindy) Taylor on Sept. 21, 1961 in Cumberland, MD.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: John Jr. and Paul, both of Malabar, FL; a daughter Barbara “Bambi” of Tipton; two granddaughters: Amanda of Florida, Taylor of Tipton, who was raised in the home, a great-granddaughter Anna Zindel; three sisters: Constance Trimble and Margaret Dickson, both of Tyrone, Lorena Peters of Sandy Ridge and a brother, Richard Zindel of Pittsburgh.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother and twin grandsons.
Mr. Zindel was owner/operator of Logan Valley Oil before retiring to live in Florida. He was a member of the Tipton Fire Company.
The past few years John and his wife have been spending their time restoring their home in Malabar and enjoying life in Florida. He said he never spent a day there that he didn’t enjoy. He also loved fishing and made several trips to Canada and came back with lots of stories to tell about the big one that got away. John was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and great-uncle. He was a good son to his parents, a kind-hearted man with a terrific sense of humor and was always there to lend a hand and to help anyone. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 4 p.m. at Tipton Baptist church with Pastor David Ervine officiating. Friends will be received by the family at the church an hour before the services from 3 to 4 p.m. A time of sharing and fellowship will be held at the Tipton Baptist Annex after the service. Everyone is invited.
