The Tyrone 12 and Under All-Stars traveled to Martinsburg for a tournament over the week of July 4.
The locals led by the slugging of Jacob Belinda, Alfie Diehl and Courtland Pannabaker came home with a second place trophy and a 3-2 overall performance.
Belinda led the attack on offense by batting .571 (eight-for-14) with two home runs and was 2-1 pitching with 19 strikeouts in 14 innings.
Diehl was four-for-nine (.444) and was hit by a pitch four times, Courtland Pannabaker batted .375 (three-for-eight), John Romano batted an even .300 (three-for-10) and was 1-0 on the mound with 16 strikeouts in 12 innings. Corbin Ray batted .33 (four-for-12), with a pair of walks, and Jesse Shaffer hit .307 (four-for-13) with one home run, walked once and was hit by a pitch.
The Tyrone 12-year olds opened with a 2-1 triumph over Roaring Spring followed by a 12-2 Mercy Rule win over Juniata Valley and a 7-4 verdict over Claysburg after receiving a bye in the first round of action. Then the locals ran into Northern Bedford which edged Tyrone 5-4 and then won the championship with a 14-6 win to put Tyrone in second place.
Richard Crabtree was three-for-12 (.250) and was hit once and had two bases on balls, and was 0-1, with three strikeouts in five innings for the Tyrone All-Stars, Seth Barrett was two-for-10 (.200), Justin Miller was 0-for-eight (.000), Tyler Glashauser was 0-for-seven (.000), with two walks and Caleb Chronister was 0-for-two (.000).
Jesse Shaffer pitched one inning with two strikeouts and Glashauser was 0-1 on the mound with two Ks in two innings.
