It’s time to start planning for the seventh annual Tyrone Area Business and Career Expo, which is scheduled for Thursday, October 19 at the Tyrone Area High School gymnasium from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For this year’s event, the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce will continue to showcase area businesses and educational institutions. The Expo will include Tyrone Area students in grades nine through 12. As always, the Chamber welcomes the community, free of charge.
Holding the Expo in the school gym enables the Chamber to have a great many more exhibitors; however, the number of exhibitors is limited along with electricity and is on a first-come first-serve basis.
The cost is $50 for the Expo registration fee. There is no fee for education and/or non-profit organizations.
The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce will continue with Business After Hours the day of the event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. hosted again by the Tyrone Area School District. A tour of the new middle school will be conducted during Business After Hours. If anyone hasn’t seen the new middle school, this would be a great time to do so.
The Chamber is hoping that individuals, organizations and businesses can be a part of this year’s Expo. Tables will be provided; however, skirting and drapery will not be provided and will be up to exhibitors to bring.
Please return a registration form along with a check for the reservation fee to the Tyrone Chamber office as soon as possible, but no later than September 15.
Lunch and a hospitality bar will be provided by Paula Binus’ Eagle Inn Restaurant. Cost will be $6 per person, to be paid at the restaurant that day.
The Chamber will continue its award program by using part of the proceeds from registration to recognize an outstanding graduating senior who is pursuing a career in business. Last year’s award of $250 went to Josh Clark who plans to attend Methodist College in North Carolina for Business Administration/Resort Management.
The Chamber is looking forward to having a wonderful turnout and hopes that everyone in some way can be a part of it, either as an exhibitor, a volunteer and/or a spectator.
If anyone wishes to participate, contact Chamber Executive Director Rose Black at the Tyrone Chamber office at 684-0736 or one of the committee members: Gail Nale at 684-1800 ext. 3706 or Laurie Cowfer at 684-6025.
