Bracelets will be distributed from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the red and white tent next to the main ticket plaza, adjacent to Murf’s patio.
One of the highlights of the day will be the Star Search competition, which is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. There will be several divisions including preschool through fourth grade, fifth grade through eighth grade, ninth through 12th grade, adults up to age 40, adults over 40 and groups (three or more). Also new this year is the Hometown Raffle, which follows the conclusion of Star Search. The Hometown Raffle is a chance for folks to win art and homemade crafts produced by their talented friends and neighbors.
Many items have been contributed by area artists and crafters. The items have been on display in the front window of The Daily Herald offices and will be on display throughout the day at the park tomorrow. Raffle tickets have been sold at area locations for the past several days and will be available throughout the day on Friday at the park. You do not need to be present to win. The proceeds from the raffle will be used to fund future activities for The Tyrone Community Day at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park.
Another highlight of the day will be the chicken barbecue dinner scheduled from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the park. A limited number of tickets will be available at the park on the day of the event. Tickets are $7. Dozens of folks have already purchased tickets for the dinner during the recent pre-sale at various locations.
Tickets for the chicken barbecue and hometown raffle tickets will be available in the tent near the ride/slide registration area. The Hometown Raffle and silent auction items will also be on display under the tent. Folks wishing to bid on the silent auction items may do so at that location.
The Tyrone Area Community Day will also feature a Championship Golf Tournament open to youth grades kindergarten to 12th grade. The tournament presented by Joshua House starts at 10 a.m.
