The Tyrone Hospital obstetrics service will officially close at midnight on August 15.
Obstetrics patients who have not already done so are advised to contact their obstetricians for instructions regarding their delivery.
“We will continue to provide a variety of women’s health services,” said Walter Van Dyke, CEO at Tyrone Hospital, “but we will no longer be able to provide obstetrics.”
As a primary care hospital, Tyrone will continue to provide the services that women would use most often. Among the services Tyrone Hospital provides for women are mammography, bone densitometry, gynecologic ultrasound, and surgical gynecology including surgical treatment for female urinary incontinence. Tyrone Hospital is also a participating provider in the American Cancer Society’s Mammogram Voucher Program.
Any other testing that women or other members of their family may need such as laboratory testing or imaging studies such as CT scans, x-ray, MRI, as well as cardiac testing, 24 hour emergency services, and rehabilitation services are also available.
Van Dyke said pediatric services are also available through Dr. Kishor Patel, who has a full-time practice located on the hospital campus at Tyrone Medical Associates.
