The final Sunday outdoor concert at Reservoir Park in Tyrone will feature the entertaining music of The Lou Stein Jazz Band featuring Mark Jevicky beginning at 6 p.m. on August 13.
Lou Stein, a Pittsburgh native, is a graduate of the Chicago Conservatory of Music and the Berkley School of Music in California. He was a student of C. C. Cutheridge of the Boston Pops. While in the military service, he was invited to join the President’s Band which toured 26 countries. Stein has performed with Patty Page, Tony Bennet, Connie Stevens and Bob Hope. He has also appeared with the bands of Woody Herman, Lawrence Welk, Stan Kenton and Dorsey Brothers.
Performing with Lou Stein is world-renowned jazz pianist Jerry Melega. Melega, also a Pittsburgh native, is a graduate of The Berkeley School of Music in Boston and toured as a member of the Army Band. His career included appearances with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey, Mel Torme, Jerry Vale and Eddie Fisher. The featured vocalist with Lou Stein is Mark Jevicky. Mark is a versatile, dynamic and melodic vocalist whose experience extends from city nightclubs to the recording studios in Nashville and has resulted in his being called the next Sinatra.
Summer Sunday concerts begin at 6 p.m. in Reservoir Park, and, in the event of rain, will be held in the Lutheran Church on Logan Avenue and Tenth Street. Concerts are free of charge and audience members should bring a chair or blanket for seating.
