Program at Community Worship Center
Watchman Fellowship, A Ministry of Christian Discernment, has scheduled a program entitled “Counterfeit Christianity” at Community Worship Center, 1300 Bald Eagle Avenue, Tyrone on Sunday, August 20 at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Bob Anderson is the director of the PA office of Watchman Fellowship. Bob hosted a TV show “Exposing the Lie” for over 10 years and has been a guest on TV and radio programs. Bob was also a contributing author of two books.

Trinity Episcopal event
Wouldn’t you like to feel like a pampered chef? Grab your apron and oven mit and come on over to Trinity Episcopal Church on Washington Avenue on Sunday, August 20 at 1 p.m. Invite your friends.
Carol Stringer, a representative of the Pampered Chef catalog will be preparing some wonderful goodies for you to sample using kitchen tools from Pampered Chef that make cooking easier and more fun. This isn’t just for the girls – there are many guys out there who know their way around the kitchen.
Peggy Forrest from Trinity Church is coordinating this fun afternoon. If you can’t be there, but you would like to see a catalog, call her at 684-5472 and she can arrange to get one to you.

DCWV meeting
The August meeting of the Descendants of Civil War Veterans will take place on Wednesday, August 23 at 7 p.m. at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library. The speaker will be Mr. Charlie Doutt who will speak on the second US Calvary, Co. A, and their trip to West Point, New York. The public is invited to attend.

Class of 1956
The TAHS Class of 1956 will hold their 50th reunion on August 25-26. Friday night’s gathering will be at Burgi’s Roundhouse in Altoona and Saturday’s buffet dinner and festivities will be held at the Sinking Valley Fairgrounds. Military History Speakers Series
There is a Military History Speaker Series event scheduled for Monday, August 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg. The topic will be “Wilder\’s Brigade at Chickamauga”. Lieutenant Colonel Robert E. Haribson, United States Army, will discuss a historical analysis of Colonel John T. Wilder\’s infantry brigade in the Tullahoma and Chickamauga campaigns of the American Civil War in 1863. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free.
Tyrone Neighborhood Watch
Join with friends and neighbors to help keep homes safe.
The Tyrone Neighborhood Watch will meet Tuesday, August 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Tyrone Senior Center, 505 West 3rd St., Tyrone.
The guest speaker will be Tony Sassano of the Blair County Drug Task Force.

Blair Co. Assoc. for the Blind health calendar
The September health calendar has been announced for the Blair County Association for the Blind, and is as follows: September 5, “Leader and Therapy Dogs” at the Tyrone Senior Center at 11 a.m., and September 25, “Leader and Therapy Dogs” at the Bellwood Senior Center at 10:30 a.m.

Chicago Rivet retirees
The Chicago Rivet retirees will hold their monthly breakfast at Joe’s Place at 8:30 a.m.
Meetings are scheduled for the rest of the year, including September 14, October 12, November 9 and December 14.

Sight and Sound Theatre trip
The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church is sponsoring a trip to the Sight and Sound Theaters in Lancaster for the “Miracle of Christmas” show on Tuesday, November 14.
Stirring live vocals performed by a cast of 60, live animals, magnificent staging and special effects, and a heart-soaring finale highlights this joyfully reverent tribute to the birth of “God with us”, Immanuel.
Reservations are now being accepted. Money will be due in full by September 15. Call the church office at 632-6906 to guarantee a spot.
TCP announces audition dates for A Christmas
Caroled
The Tyrone Community Players will be the temporary inhabitants of the historic Mishler Theater for a creative, musical retelling of the classic Dickens’ ghost story.
With an original adaptation and score by Tyrone resident Will A. Jones, The TCP presented the premier of this seasonal spectacular in 1999.
Auditions for this wonderful holiday musical will be held in The Building, home of the TCP, located at 1019 Logan Ave., Tyrone on Sunday and Monday, September 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. Please be prepared with a vocal audition. An accompanist and CD player will be available for your use. If you do not have a prepared piece of music, a song from the show will be taught for your audition.
Performance dates for A Christmas Caroled, under the direction of Cindy Bennett and Karen Mayhew, are November 24-26 in the beautiful Mishler Theater in Altoona.

Auditions are open to all persons and the cast consists of the following, all of which are singing roles: seven male principle roles, six female principle roles, one child principle role and a wide range of ensemble roles, many with speaking and singing solos and duets, for performers of all ages.

New Bible study class
The Tyrone Church of the Brethren has added a Saturday morning Bible study to its educational opportunities. The class is held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. Currently, the class is learning from the Gospel of John.

Preschool openings
A Child’s Garden Preschool, located at the Tyrone Church of the Brethren, has a few openings for children ages three to five-years-old, for the 2006-07 school year.

Tyrone Salvation Army now open
The Tyrone Salvation Army is now open at its new location at 908 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone. It’s open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Tyrone Salvation Army always accepts clothing and food items. It also accepts appliances, bedding, etc. It is currently in need of children’s clothing.
Monetary contributions can be mailed to: Salvation Army Service Center, P.O. Box 142 Tyrone, PA 16686 and can also be dropped off at the 908 Pennsylvania Avenue location. The phone number is 684-1664.

Singles 45 Plus
Singles 45 Plus meets every third Tuesday of the month. Interested individuals are invited to come for a meal and to socialize. Those attending would be responsible for their dinner, drinks or desserts.
