The Rotary Club of Tyrone has announced the 23rd Annual Farm/City Day at Reservoir Park is scheduled for Saturday, September 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine.
There will be a live petting zoo, live entertainment, food, hay wagon rides, a bouncy house for the kids and more. Local fire company trucks are scheduled to be on display as well as farm equipment, and there will be a first aid station set up by Tyrone Hospital.
An exciting addition this year will be a 1951 Mac fire truck available for the kids to ride. The fire truck will run one minute or so behind the hay wagon rides.
Tickets for the chicken barbecue can be purchased in advance from any Rotarian, Kelly Wike’s State Farm office or the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce office.
An assortment of crafters and vendors will set up booths as well as non-profit organizations will sell items as a fundraiser. There will also be a bake sale and other food items available for purchase.
A new 2006 Farm/City Day T-shirt is also available for purchase.
Reservations for booths are now being accepted, including food, crafts, display or promotional. Booth locations are assigned on a first come, first served basis so register as soon as possible. Exhibitor vehicles may be parked nearby after setup in a designated area.
Because of improved booth arrangement, all traffic must enter the park from Reservoir Drive.
The first Rotary Farm/City Day was held in 1984 in a one-block area of downtown Tyrone. Everyone was in close proximity which made it very easy for young and old alike to get to see everything including friends, displays and entertainment.
The new Farm/City Day arrangement at Reservoir Park is meant to provide the benefits of those early years with some extra space and the beauty of a September day at the park.
