In district 6 doubles competition at the Leopold courts in Altoona, Tyrone had a pair of doubles teams participate.
The team of Amy Lewis and Laura Thompson won their first match downing Central’s Gorman and Mock6-7, 6-4, 6-3, before falling the third seeded duo from Huntingdoin Jenny Wang and Lauren Perow 6-0, 6-0.
“For two 10th graders to play so well, gives a hope of the future for Tyrone tennis,’ said Tyrone tennis coach Mike Hample. “They played well to win what was a tough match.”
The Lady Eagles doubles team of Brittany Harker and Caitlin Dillon lost a preliminary round match to Schrock and Gramling from Forest Hills.
The Tyrone girls tennis team fell to a very strong Hollidaysburg’s Lady Tigers tennis team, 7-0 at the Clay Avenue courts on Wednesday.
The Lady Eagles number two doubles team of Elena Myers and Kayli Gray dropped an 8-2 match for the individual hightlight of the match in which the Lady Tigers showed their strength limiting the Tyrone girls to just two games won in singles play.
