Dates for fall leaf collection have been set this year by Antis Township and Bellwood Borough.
In the township, crews have already started collecting leaves and will continue through December 1. Leaves must be either raked to the roadside edge of the property or placed in brown paper bags on the roadside edge of the property by 7 a.m. on the designated collection day. Limbs and branches are not collected at this time.
Collection days are on Monday in Bellemeade and Pinecroft, on Wednesday in Tipton and Friday in the Bellwood area and Riggles Gap.
In order to continue to offer this service to residents, township employees ask that residents do not call the Township office and request special pick ups.
Township residents are also reminded that open burning is strictly prohibited. Paper burning, no trash or leaves, may only be done in an approved container on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Also, the Township operates a Yard Waste Composting Facility that is open year round (weather permitting) to residents of Antis Township and neighboring communities. The site accepts yard waste, including trimmings from bushes, tress, leaves, and grass clippings, all at no charge. All contaminants, such as metals, plastics, rocks, lumber, and refuse, should be eliminated from the brush as the site does not accept these.
When available, the public may pick up mulch and compost from the site during the regular operating hours of the facility. There is no charge for individuals who choose to shovel and load themselves. On Thursdays Township employees will be available to help load at a cost of $10 per scoop. Call or stop by the Antis Township Building beforehand.
The compost yard is for residential use only. Use by contractors is strictly prohibited and will be considered illegal dumping.
Bellwood Borough Council also set the dates for fall leaf pick-up within the borough. Residents may place leaves in recyclable paper bags along the curb each Friday through December 1, excluding Veteran’s Day, November 10. Pick-up will begin at 7:30 a.m.
