Bellwood’s Excelsior Fire Company 1 responded to a fire that started in a kitchen at the home of Todd Patterson on Sunday evening.
Fire Chief David McCloskey said the firefighters responded to the call at 707 N. 10th Street after the report of the fire around 6:30 p.m.
He said it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. The fire was deemed to be “electrical” in nature. McCloskey said the state police fire marshal is investigating the blaze.
No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. In addition to fire damage to the kitchen, there was smoke and heat damage to the rest of the structure.
McCloskey estimated damage at $75,000. He said the home was valued at about $50,000 with contents damage at $25,000.
He said the house was not destroyed and could be restored. Patterson was staying with a relative, according to McCloskey.
Bellwood was assisted by Pinecroft, Tipton-Antis and Tyrone fire departments.
