Tyrone Elementary wrestling
Tyrone Elementary wrestling sign up will be held Wednesday, November 15 and Monday, November 20 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Tyrone High School lobby in front of the Athletic office. This program is open to K through 6th grade students.

An ‘A-maize-ing’ Program
Make a corn husk doll (or action figure) and discover what other roles this a-maize-ing vegetable plays in your life. Join the \”Creature Teacher\”, Jody Wallace, from the Blair County Conservation District, in doll making, a game and sampling corn products. The program is for participants third grade to adult and is scheduled for Thursday, November 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Wesley Long Community Room at the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library. Bike/skate park meeting
There will be a bike/skate park meeting Thursday, Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Joshua House. All interested people are welcome.

Class of 1942
The class of 1942, Tyrone High School, will hold their monthly luncheon on Thursday, November 16 at Joe’s Place, Vail at 12:30 p.m.
The class president, Jack Boytim, will be present. All classmates and guests are urged to attend. Come and renew old acquaintances and experiences.

TASD opens doors to public for American Education Week
In recognition of American Education Week, the Tyrone Area School District is opening its doors to the community and offering citizens a chance to visit and view contemporary public education.
Visitation for the elementary, middle, and high schools is scheduled for Friday, November 17 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Parents, guardians and other community members who are interested in seeing what an average day is like at the Tyrone Area Schools are welcome to visit. Individuals do not need to know a student, teacher or faculty member who is present during this time.
Those interested may enter the school’s main office on November 17. Individuals will be asked to sign in and will be given a visitor’s pass. If visitors know the teacher of a particular student, they may visit that classroom. Visitors may also choose to go to a classroom based on a certain subject or activity that is being taught at that time.

Holiday bazaar
A holiday bazaar will be held at the Warriors Mark Fire Hall, Route 550, on Saturday, November 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be crafts, baked goods and homemade soup. Lunch will be available.
Thrive!
Thrive! is a radical praise and worship gathering for youth and young adults in Tyrone and the region. Thrive! is scheduled for November 18 at 7 p.m. at Joshua House with Ron DePriest ministering. Thrive! is also scheduled for December 15 at 7 p.m. at Joshua House with Tony Barboza ministering.

Special music
The Jacobs Brothers of Dillsburg will appear at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellwood on November 18 at 7 p.m. The Jacobs Brothers, veterans of gospel music, are dedicated to the ministry of spreading the Gospel through music. Since 1962 the group has traveled millions of miles, produced more than 50 albums and hosted many international tours.

Grace Christmas bazaar
Grace Baptist Church will hold its Christmas bazaar on November 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church’s multi-purpose room.

Cheese balls
The United Methodist Women of the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church are currently taking orders for cheeseballs. Orders are due by November 19.
Pick up will be at the Church Fellowship Hall on Thursday, November 30 after 4 p.m.

Olde Fashioned Hymn sing
First Assembly of God Church, 12th St. and Blair Avenue, will be putting on another one of its very popular Olde Fashioned Hymn Sings on Sunday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. As always, it’s free and the public is welcome to come and hear the great Gospel music.

Tyrone Salvation Army
The Tyrone Salvation Army Service Center will be closed November 20, 21, 22 and 23 due to Thanksgiving activities they will be involved in. The center will be open November 27 during regular hours.

Thanksgiving food bank distributions
The Tyrone Area Food Bank will hold Thanksgiving distributions for two days, Monday, November 20 and Tuesday, November 21. Distribution will be the same as last year. Those individuals whose last name begins with A through M are scheduled for Monday and those whose last name begins with N through Z are scheduled for pick up on Tuesday. Hours are 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. both days. Anyone with questions can contact the church at 684-3341.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner
The Community Thanksgiving Dinner sponsored by Joshua House and the Salvation Army will be held at Joshua House, 123 West 10th St., November 21 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Take-outs are available. For more information, call Joshua House at 684-2032.
Thanksgiving eve service at WMUMC
Crisp blue sky days. The faintly sweet smell of wood smoke. Choosing the perfect pumpkin. The greatest joy is noticing the small things, and giving thanks. This season, bring the family and join in at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church for a time of thanksgiving. Rediscover the contentment that only comes through a grateful heart. WMUMC is celebrating Thanksgiving with a Community Thanksgiving Eve Service on Wednesday, November 22 at 7 p.m. Guest speaker for the evening will be Vance Hart from the Spruce Creek UM Church. Anyone with questions can contact the church office at 632-6906. The WMUMC is handicapped accessible.

Thanksgiving dinner
Once again, DJ’s Cafe in Tyrone will provide the community with a free Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day. Staff and volunteers prepare all the meals on-site and then deliver them free of charge to families. Families are also welcome to join the staff at DJ’s for a sit down, home-cooked meal.
The Thanksgiving meal includes: roasted turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, candied yams, corn, cranberry sauce, roll and butter, dessert and milk. Those interested in ordering a meal should call 684-7851 or visit DJ’s at 2068 Columbia Ave. in Tyrone.

Tree Decorating Contest
Once again this year, as part of The Tyrone Victorian Christmas, a tree decorating contest has been scheduled. A “walkway of trees” will be held at the Tyrone Armory. The contest is open to businesses, clubs, organizations, individuals, families and anyone else who may want to participate.
All trees must be artificial. The Tyrone Victorian Christmas Committee has 20 trees that can be used on a first-call basis. The trees can be put up and decorated between Nov. 27 and Nov. 30, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. All trees must be decorated by 3 p.m. on Nov. 30.
Trees will be judged in five categories: Victorian, Best of Show, Best in Representation of Business, Club or Organization, Most Original and Most Traditional.
Trees can be taken down between Dec. 4 and 7 from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The Committee noted that it cannot be responsible for items on a tree. Participants may want to avoid using heirloom items as decorations. To register for the contest, contact Scott Collinash at 814-684-0517.

B-A Historical Society
A meeting of the Bellwood Antis Historical Society will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 27 at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library. A descendant of Tommy Coleman will be speaking. The public is invited.

Meet the Eagles
The Tyrone Basketball Booster Club is sponsoring a Meet the Eagles event on Tuesday, November 28 at 7 p.m. in the High School gymnasium. Individuals will get a chance to meet the Tyrone basketball players, grades seven through 12, and their coaches. Come out and show support for these athletes. There will also be order forms for the Tyrone basketball apparel.
