The Bellwood-Antis junior high boys basketball team won their second straight game Monday afternoon, defeating the Claysburg-Kimmel junior high 36-27, in the B-A Middle School gym.
Claysburg took a slim 13-11 lead into the locker room at halftime after turning the ball over 13 times.
The junior high Bulldogs scored first to improve their margin to 15-11, before the B-A boys rallied to take the lead, 21-20.
Mark Christner pumped in a big-three-point bucket with Bellwood-Antis up by one to widen the margin to 24-20 and Bellwood-Antis outscored Claysburg 12-7 from there on to push the final score to 36-27.
“We played very well in the second half and shot the ball much better against Claysburg’s 2-3 zone,” said Bellwood-Antis junior high coach Kerry Naylor. “McCrum, Christner and Plummer each hit some big three-pointers to loosen things up. We were also able to get out and run and get some baskets in transition. But the big key was that we took care of the basketball. In the first half, we were our own worst enemy.”
Troy McCrum scored 11 to lead the Little Blue Devils, Nate Plummer had 10 and Zach Dionis added eight.
Bellwood-Antis (2-0) plays at Moshannon Valley Friday.
