Snyder Township supervisor, Buddy Daughenbaugh Jr., announced at the end of last night’s meeting that he was resigning as supervisor.
Daughenbaugh, who was serving a two-year term after being elected in November of 2005, said he sold his house and is moving out of the township, forcing his resignation.
The township code states the current supervisors, Charles Diehl and James Burket, have 30 days to appoint someone to fill Daughenbaugh’s position.
If supervisors don’t appoint someone within 30 days, the township’s vacancy board would then have 15 days to make the decision.
The vacancy board consists of the township supervisors and one chairman of the vacancy board. If Diehl and Burket cannot agree on a replacement, the chairman of the vacancy board would act as the tiebreaker.
Helen Mengel was appointed as chairman of the vacancy board for 2006. However, during the township’s reorganization meeting held earlier in the evening, supervisors didn’t take any action on re-appointing Mengel to that position.
Also, during the reorganization meeting, Paul Morrison was appointed to a one-year term as fire marshal.
Appointing both a primary and alternate sewer enforcement officer was briefly tabled until the regular meeting, where supervisors accepted the resignation of William Gohn as sewer enforcement officer. Innovative Consulting Group was appointed to fill the primary and alternate positions.
Regular township meeting dates for 2007 were set for the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
A special meeting is also set for January 16 at 7 p.m.
