Tyrone Police investigated a report of an attempt to lure a juvenile female student into a truck and the assault on the juvenile, which occurred while she was walking to school at around noon on Wednesday, January 10.
The juvenile female reported that a male in a red truck stopped along the 1400 block of Hamilton Avenue and asked her if she wanted a ride. The juvenile declined the offer and the truck drove away.
The juvenile stated that the truck drove around the block and made contact with her again on Hamilton Avenue. The juvenile said that the male exited the vehicle and struck her in the face and grabbed her arm.
The juvenile stated that she took measures to defend herself, causing the male to go to his knees.
The juvenile then ran from the area to the high school.
The following is a description of the male actor and the vehicle he was operating.
The actor was described as a white male, mid to late 30s, approximately six feet, three inches, 250 pounds with a bald head. He was wearing a dark or black leather jacket, blue t-shirt and blue jeans.
The vehicle was described as a fire engine red late model full size pickup truck with extended cab. The truck sets high, possibly a four wheel drive and has an open bed. The back window was tinted. She was unsure of the vehicle make, but it was possibly a Dodge.
There was a similar incident on Friday, December 22, 2006 at approximately 8 a.m.
In this matter, another juvenile female was approached twice, however, ran into a friend’s house when she was approached by the male the second time.
The description of the male and the vehicle is similar as is the location, and police believe that this may be the same actor.
The direction of travel after the two incidents is not known.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Tyrone Police Department at 684-1365.
