Yesterday, something was done in our area that had never been done before.
Wayne Kaspick, Restaurant Manager at the Family Chill & Grill, made the first ever Firehouse Party Pizza, which is a whopping 30-inch round pizza pie.
Owner Scott Illig had to make a custom board just to put the pizza in the oven. Once it’s in the oven, it takes about 10 minutes until it’s ready to eat.
“We just wanted something different,” said Illig, about why he decided to offer such a large pizza to the public. “This pizza is good for parties, the upcoming Super Bowl, or to even bring recognition to the area.”
Kaspick added that everyone has seen on the various food channels how different restaurants around the United States have different specialties or unique menu items that become their signature item.
“We wanted to come up with something and put our stamp on it,” he said.
Kaspick said the restaurant is now proud to offer the 30-inch pizza to customers and that the Family Chill & Grill is the only place in the area for people to order such a menu item.
The cost is $24.99, with $3 extra for each topping.
Kaspick added that this week, the Chill & Grill started delivering to homes in about a six to seven mile radius of the restaurant. There is no charge for delivery, with a $15 minimum order.
Recently, the Family Chill & Grill expanded the restaurant, which allowed the menu to be expanded as well. In addition to offering ice cream and food items from the grill with sit down service at a counter and tables, the restaurant now offers pizza and subs. The new side of the building is able to accommodate another 55 to 60 people.
The restaurant has operated on old Route 220 in Snyder Township near the Bald Eagle intersection for the last three years.
The restaurant phone number is 684-1990.
