The classmates of the Tyrone High School class of 1942 will hold their monthly luncheon at Joe’s Place, Vail, on Thursday, January 18 at 12:30 p.m.
All classmates and guests are invited to attend.
Tyrone Sportsmens Assoc. work day
The Tyrone Sportsmens Association will be having an outside work day on Saturday, January 20 beginning at 8 a.m., weather permitting. Clearing brush from the range area will be the main focus. Lunch will be provided.
20th Annual Respect Life March
Join the 20th Annual Respect Life March on Sunday, January 21 beginning at noon.
The march will begin with a prayer service in St. Matthew Church in Tyrone. Participants will then walk the 1.25 miles to Oak Grove Cemetery to the grave of Baby Agnes Doe, for another short prayer service. A hot luncheon will be served in the parish hall after the march.
Individuals are encouraged to bring a sign; those unable to walk this distance can feel free to join in by driving at the end of the procession.

Auditions for Tyrone Community Players annual Cabaret Night
The TCP’s exciting annual Cabaret Night will be designed around a very special theme this year, one honoring our military, past and present. The American Legion will host the USO Tour presentation on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31.
Vocal auditions for this event will be held in The Building, home of the Tyrone Community Players at 1019 Logan Ave., and are scheduled for Sunday, January 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. Please be prepared with a vocal selection that depicts the era of the cabaret. Minimal dancing is required.

Faces and Places Ministries casting for spring
production
Faces and Places Ministries recently announced the spring production will be “David, A Man After God\’s Own Heart”.
In May, Faces and Places Ministries will launch this sprawling epic of an ancient time summed up in one man\’s life, King David.
For interested individuals, Faces and Places Ministries will be casting all roles for this production on Sunday, January 21 at 2:30 p.m. Both singing and non-singing roles are available.

Special events
Several ecumenical churches in the Tyrone area will be observing the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the week of January 21. Several of the local United Methodist Churches and 1st English Lutheran Church and the Tyrone Presbyterian Church will be participating in a pulpit exchange on Sunday, January 21. The theme for this year\’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is \”Open our ears and loosen our tongues (Mark 7: 31-37).
There will be a joint ecumenical service on Thursday, January 25 at 7 p.m. at 1st English Lutheran Church. The guest speaker will be Mr. Harry Overholtzer, Executive Director of Mission Central in Mechanicsburg. Mr. Overholtzer will speak about his experience in ecumenical mission.
Pastoral leaders from Saint Matthew\’s Roman Catholic Church, 1st English Lutheran Church, Tyrone Presbyterian Church, Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church, many of the local United Methodist Churches will be participating in the service, along with Mayor Jim Kilmartin and the pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Tyrone Hospital meeting
The Tyrone Hospital board of directors and administration will hold a community meeting to provide an overview of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. This meeting is a follow-up to the community/corporate meeting held on January 4.
The meeting will be held on Monday, January 22 at 7 p.m. in the LGI room at Tyrone Elementary School. Mr. James Walsh, Tyrone Hospital’s bankruptcy attorney will be present. All members of the community are welcome to attend.
March for Life bus trip
Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Huntingdon is sponsoring a bus to the 34th Annual March for Life in Washington DC on Monday, January 22. The bus will leave Peebles Plaza, Route 22, in Huntingdon at 7 a.m. Individuals are encouraged to bring a bag lunch for the trip to Washington. The bus will leave Washington about 4 p.m. with a stop for dinner on the return trip, arriving back in Huntingdon between 9 and 9:30 p.m. There is a cost, due when the passenger boards the bus. Reservations can be made up to the time of departure, on a first come, first serve basis. Those under 18-years-old must be accompanied by an adult. B-A Historical Society meeting
The meeting for the Bellwood Antis Historical Society will be held on Monday, January 22 at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library. Paula Zitzler will be speaking on “America’s invisible patriot”, Daniel Roberdeau at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to attend.
Allegheny Chorale spring season
Allegheny Chorale is scheduled to start practice for its spring season January 23 in the TAHS Chorus Room from 7 to 9 p.m.
Any adults interested in joining, and also tenth through 12th grade students, are invited to attend the practices.
The deadline for new members is February 6.
Community dinner
The Tyrone Community Partnership and Wesley United Methodist Church have joined together to bring back the very popular community dinners.
The first of the new series of dinners will be held Wednesday, January 24 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church at the corner of 12th Street and Logan Avenue.
The menu for this dinner features “comfort foods” designed to chase the post-holiday blues. It will include tossed salad, apple sauce, mashed potatoes, orange glazed carrots, cole slaw, green beans, chicken noodle soup, Aunt Georgia’s fresh baked rolls, stuffed chicken breast, pineapple upside down cake, meatloaf, and beverages.
Tickets are available at the Church office weekday mornings until noon, at the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce, and G & P Dollar Stretcher. Tickets will also be sold at the door. Children under five are admitted free.
The January Comfort Food dinner is handicapped accessible. Please use the 12th Street entrance.
Auditions scheduled for second show in Tyrone Community Players season
Winner of the 1981 Pulitzer Prize and New York Drama Critics Circle Award, Crimes of the Heart is a heartwarming, hilarious comedy/drama to be presented by the Tyrone Community Players on March 16 and 17 in the social hall of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
The scene of the show is Hazlehurst, Mississippi, where the three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch, their grandfather, who is living out his last hours in the local hospital.
Lenny, the eldest sister, is unmarried and facing diminishing matrimonial prospects, to her dismay. Meg, the second sister, is home after a failed attempt at a singing career on the West Coast. Then there is Babe, the youngest, who is out on bail after having shot her husband in the stomach.
The cast is rounded out by two male characters and a female cousin who alternately love and hate the eccentric, wonderful and confusing behavior exhibited by the sisters.
Auditions for this exciting play are open to all adults, and will be held in The Building, 1019 Logan Ave., home of the Tyrone Community Players, on Sunday and Monday, January 28 and 29 at 7 p.m.

Tyrone History Museum closed for winter
The Tyrone History Museum is closed for the winter. The museum will reopen Sunday, April 1, 2007.

Public walking
Public walking at the Tyrone High School has once again started for the winter season. Walkers are invited to walk Monday through Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be no walking when school is not in session. Running is not permitted. Children must be supervised. Rubber-tired strollers only.
Master Beekeeper
Master Beekeeper will make educational and informative presentations to a class or group on honeybees and beekeeping. For more information, call 684-1783.
Singles 45 Plus
Singles 45 Plus meets every third Tuesday of the month. Interested individuals are invited to come for a meal and to socialize. Those attending would be responsible for their dinner, drinks or desserts.
Meetings are held at King’s Restaurant, 6th Avenue and 31st Street.
