The Tyrone boys swim team had a slim three-point lead going into the final event against Somerset in the Tyrone Area High School pool. Somerset (6-1) captured both first and second places in the 400 meter freestyle relay to jump over the Golden Eagles to nip Tyrone 88-81, despite a record setting performance by Tyrone junior Ethan Nulton.
Nulton, who set a school record with a time of 1:56.26 in the 200 freestyle, also won the 500 freestyle and teamed with fellow double winners Dustin Elder and Philip Kreckel and Chris Closson to win both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. Elder won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke, while Kreckel won both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle races.
