Joy K. (Smith) Peters, 58, of 62 Duff Dr., Altoona, died Thursday evening, September 11, 2008 at the Altoona Regional Health System-Altoona Hospital Campus after a brief illness.
She was born June 3, 1950 in Northwood, Snyder Twp., PA, a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Jessie Anna (Estright) Smith.
She is survived by daughters Misti Pighetti (Tony) of Tyrone and Lisa Kensinger (Larry) of Altoona.
Grandchildren Kirk and Kyle Kensinger.
Two brothers and one sister: Daniel “Fisher” Smith of Tyrone, Jack M. Smith of Sandy Ridge and Nancy A. Walk of Spring, Texas.
There are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters Helen Dunkel and Mary Lou “Toni” Smith, and brothers William Smith and Donald R. Smith.
She was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1968 and enjoyed crafts, playing cards, an avid collector of angels, and time with her family and grandchildren.
She was employed for the past 29 years in Environmental Services at the Bon Secour Campus of the Altoona Regional Health System.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Patricia Gable officiating. Interment will be at Bald Eagle Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday one hour before the 3 p.m. service.
