Tyrone Borough Council approved a tentative budget Monday evening. Until Monday, the Borough had operated without a formal 2007 budget.
All Council Members voted to approve this budget except for Council Member Jim Grazier.
Some information of the proposed budget was not yet released. However, this plan will include a half-a-percent point increase in the earned income tax. Working residents of the Borough will now pay 1.25 percent of earned income. This will provide an estimated $100,000 in new revenue.
Additional income remaining from the 2006 budget and increases in fees and licenses helped the Borough to bridge the gap between spending and revenues, which was $108,000.
Borough Council also approved salaries for its nonuniformed employees not covered under the latest American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees contract.
