The Rotary Club of Tyrone and Blair County Communities That Care are teaming up to collaborate with area agencies, businesses, organizations and individuals to organize the second annual Family Fun Blast in celebration of “National Mental Health Awareness Month”.
Last year’s event saw over 300 people participating in the day’s activities.
This year, Family Fun Blast is scheduled for Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tyrone Area High School with free prizes, free food, live music and lots of family fun.
From 10 a.m. to noon child safety seat inspections will be held in the parking lot, sponsored by Kelly Wike State Farm Insurance and the Blair County Safe Kids Coalition.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hot 100 Live Action will broadcast from the event.
Free food will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. compliments of US Foods.
Steamer and Diesel Dog will visit with everyone between 1 and 2 p.m. and live entertainment, Big Mac and Fries, will perform. The live entertainment is sponsored by Blair County Community Action.
Many events will be ongoing throughout the day including Jaffa circus clowns, Tyrone Community Players storytelling and a bouncy house.
The Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company will also be on-site throughout the day and kids’ games and activities will be set up in the gym.
A Kids’ Clinic will also be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Tyrone Hospital invites children to bring their stuffed animals, dolls or other special friends to have a vital signs check-up.
Check-up includes blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, height, weight and more.
Plus, each child will receive a patient chart containing the vital signs info to take home with them.
