\”America, Unite in Prayer\” is the theme of the 56th annual National Day of Prayer to be observed on Thursday, May 3.
Scripture behind National Day of Prayer is taken from II Chronicles 7:14 (NRSV) – \”If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.\”
“If – the condition; my people – corporately; who are called by my name – the Church; will humble themselves – as for His intercession; and seek my face – desire for his sovereignty; and turn from their wicked ways – confess and repent; then I will hear – God\’s commitment; I will forgive – His response; and I will heal their land – That\’s His promise.”
Christ United Methodist Church, corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 14th Street will be open to the public on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an invitation for the public to come in and pray and spend some time at its altar on this National Day of Prayer.
An envelope was attached to the church bulletin on Sunday with a tea bag inside and an invitation to enjoy a cup of hot tea along with taking time for prayer on May 3, at home, if you can\’t get to the church.
Also, just a reminder, everyone is asked to remember to \”Pray for our Country\” during the national event on May 3.
