From staff reports
Roy Pazmino M.D., gynecologist, has been granted reaccreditation for the ultrasound services provided through his practice.
Accreditation/reaccreditation is granted by the Ultrasound Practice Council of the American Institute of Ultrasound (AIUM) in Medicine and is granted for three year periods.
Reaccreditation means that Dr. Pazmino’s practice continues to meet voluntary standards set by the diagnostic ultrasound profession. To achieve accreditation a physician practice must meet the stringent standards of the AIUM regarding personnel; physical facilities; documentation, storage, and record-keeping practices; policies and procedures and quality assurance methods.
Participation in the AIUM’s Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Program is voluntary and is available to practices in the following areas of ultrasound: abdominal/general, obstetrical or focused obstetrical, gynecological, vascular, breast, or any combination of these areas. The accreditation process allows ultrasound practices the opportunity to assess their strengths and weaknesses and initiate changes for improving and strengthening their overall operation.
The AIUM developed this program in response to the many changes in the approach to healthcare delivery that have resulted in an increased scrutiny of diagnostic evaluations, as well as technical improvements that have allowed for the expanded use of ultrasound and have dramatically increased the number of physicians and sonographers using this modality.
