Tyrone Hospital and Blair Senior Services’ PrimeTime Health Program are co-sponsoring a community education program entitled “Everything You Need to Know About Hip and Knee Replacement” on Wednesday, September 26 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Tyrone Senior Community Center at 503 3rd Street in Tyrone.
The program will be presented by Dr. Christopher McClellan, orthopedic surgeon from University Orthopedic Center in Altoona who is a member of the Tyrone Hospital medical staff.
Dr. McClellan is a native of Tipton. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Juniata College and earned his medical doctorate degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency program at Pinnacle Health Hospitals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dr. McClellan’s training and experience include unique competencies in the areas of Total Joint Replacement, Fractures and Sports Medicine.
The program will include information about Gender Knee, the first knee replacement designed especially for women.
Those who attend can also take advantage of a free osteoporosis screening provided by Tyrone Hospital.
Tim Skarada, MPT, Physical Therapist and Shelley Hanczar, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist both of ProCare Rehabilitation will provide information on rehabilitation after hip and knee surgery and information on adaptive equipment to help those with orthopedic problems.

Those 60 or over are invited to stay for lunch. Please reserve lunch by calling 684-7853 by September 19.
The program is free and open to the public. People of all ages are welcome to attend.
