Tyrone Community Players has planned a “Crazy for the Arts, A Marathon Weekend” for Saturday and Sunday, September 13 and 14. It’s a gathering of many talented and dedicated thespians, their families and friends who are willingly giving up their time and energy to help promote the growth and prosperity of the performing arts in Tyrone.
On a single weekend, September 13 and 14, you can find any number of these supporters performing  unusual and interesting tasks around the community. On Saturday morning, beginning at 9 a.m., Rich Ward and Andrew Wilson will be heading a Bike-A-Thon on the Rails To Trails route between Water Street and Alexandria.
Later in the day, beginning at noon, many familiar faces will commence a Sing-A-Thon in the City Hotel Park in downtown Tyrone. This event will provide six hours of continuous singing on both Saturday and Sunday and is under the direction of Kate Coltabaugh and Darcy Wilson.
Saturday night will provide a marathon of laughs as the TCP hosts a “Whose Line Is It Anyway” style, Improve Night with the TCP in “The Building”.
Sunday does not take a back seat in the activities department as Linda Snyder and Laura Harris will host a Family Walk For The Arts, beginning at 11 a.m. in Reservoir Park. Sunday afternoon, at 2 p.m. will see Cindy Bennett and Nancy Sloss leading teams of intrepid Irish Road Bowlers through their paces on a very winding country road.
Each participant in each event is busy securing pledges for the task they have chosen to accomplish. If you have not been contacted to make a pledge for an event, phone the ArtsLine at 684-ART2 and do so. Also, if you would like to participate in any of the events, phone the ArtsLine and you will be welcomed with open arms.
