The Tyrone girls volleyball team swept the Lewistown Lady Panthers in three straight games at Tyrone on Monday night.
Tyrone got out of the gate in a hurry taking the opening game easily 25-13, then had to fight hard to earn wins in the final two games both by 25-22 scores.
Lindsay Christine paced the Lady Eagles to their victory with 24 service points and nine kills. Cassy Zimmerman had 26 assists and nine service points and Jess Miller added nine kills and five service points. Emily Waite had three service points for the Lady eagles, while Chelsea Brocket added two and Kelly Pearson had one service point.
“It\’s great to finally see all of our hard work pay off,” said Tyrone head volleyball coach Danielle Patton. “I hope that tonight\’s win gives the girls the boost of confidence they need to succeed in the second half of our season.”
Lewistown won the junior varsity match in two straight games 25-11 and 25-7.
In the midst of a busy week, the Tyrone girls volleyball squad travels to Spring Mills today to play Penns Valley, then comes back home to host Central on Thursday. On both evenings, the action begins with the junior varsity match at 6 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
