Ken Wertz of Arnold’s Tae Kwon Do earned his first degree black belt on September 26. The testing was conducted by a board consisting of Dennis Arnold, instructor, and third degree blackbelts from Altoona’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do. Wertz endured two-and-a-half hours of testing and completed and passed eight phases. Wertz has been training for five years and is the first student to receive a black belt from Arnold’s Tae Kwon Do. “He did an excellent job, and he was tested very hard,” added Arnold. Arnold’s Tae Kwon Do meets at LA Fitness in downtown Tyrone on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. There is a special class on Wednesdays. For more information, contact 696-3960.
