Based on the second in the series of books by C.S. Lewis “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the stage production tells the story of four children who go to live with an old professor (Dan Miller) during the war.
One day, while playing hide and seek Lucy (Eliza Tangen and Marlena Wagner) the youngest of the children, finds a wardrobe which leads to a magical land called Narnia.
However, Narnia is being ruled by the evil White Witch (Donna Derdel) who has made it snow for a 100 years and according to an old prophecy, Edmund (Nick Bonsell), Lucy, Peter (Frank Filkosky and RJ Beck) and Susan (Olivia Tangen and Kathleen Beck) are the “chosen ones” who will defeat the Witch. They are assisted by the true ruler of Narnia, the lion, Aslan (David Beck). With the good Narnians on their side all four children must now defeat the witch using all their strength and fulfill their destinies to become the new kings and queens of Narnia.
You may ask why Faces and Places Ministries is performing a staged production based on such a popular children’s book. Faces and Places Ministries would say why not?
C.S. Lewis was a Christian himself and wrote many of his writings based on his faith and religious beliefs.
There are many different Christian themes used throughout “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” many key scenes throughout the book can be seen as allegories of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. One of the most emotional and inspiring scenes in the production is the death and resurrection of Aslan the lion king of Narnia. Many of today’s Christian authors and readers relate the character of Aslan as a Christ-like figure from C.S. Lewis’s perspective. His death and resurrection resembles so much of what Jesus went through on the road of calvary to the cross.
Don’t miss out on your chance to witness this once in a lifetime experience.
