Austin C. Muir, 84, of Tyrone, PA and formerly of Sandy Ridge died Friday, May 30, 2008 at 6:21 a.m. at the Tyrone Hospital.
He was born January 19, 1924 in Sandy Ridge, PA to the late William and Ruth M. (Moore) Muir.
He was a Protestant by faith. He was a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Co., Tyrone.
He was formerly employed at the Sandy Ridge and the Blue Ball, West Decatur Brick Yards. He was later employed for many years at the Hub at Penn State, until retiring.
He was married in 1947 in Cumberland, Maryland to Lila E. (Vaughn) Muir, who died Jan. 10, 1983. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Dixon and Annabelle Blowers and two brothers, Wall “Pete” Muir and Glen Muir.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Clair T. Vaughn and his wife Kay of Sandy Ridge, to whom he was especially close, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a son, Terrance Muir of Alexandria, VA and brothers, Thomas Muir and his wife Connie of Tyrone and Robert Muir and his wife Jean of Osceola Mills, PA.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Heath Funeral Home, 701 Lingle Street, Osceola Mills with Rev. Brent Salsgiver officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, June 2, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills.
Place of burial will be Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
