The Daily Herald “Holiday Recipe Contest” was deemed a success as over 30 recipes were submitted from area residents.
The first place winner is Carol Albright who submitted the recipe of Date-Nut Pumpkin Pie.
She will receive: a turkey from Mac’s Market, $20 gift certificate to Tyrone BiLo, case of water from Logan Beverage, holiday tablecloth from G&P Dollar Stretchers, holiday dinner dishes from Bellwood Dollar General, holiday centerpiece from Baney’s Flowers and Gifts and a 13-week subscription to The Daily Herald.
The second place winner is Ellen Hull who submitted the recipe of Holiday Potato Casserole.
Second prize includes: a turkey from Martin’s Food Market in Bellmeade, $25 gift certificate from Bellwood Hometown Market, holiday tablecloth from G&P Dollar Stretchers, holiday centerpiece from Alice’s Garden Florist and Gift Shop, $30 rental card from SilverScreen Videos and a 13-week subscription to The Daily Herald.
A guest chef, Scott Collinash of Tyrone, visited the Herald office to take time to look over the recipes and decide upon the winner.
The names of the recipe submissions were covered during the voting process to assure anonymity.
The first and second place recipes will be listed first in the Santa Gift Guide, followed by all of the recipes that were submitted. The Gift Guide will be distributed Wednesday, November 21 as a supplement to that day’s newspaper.
The Daily Herald would like to thank everyone who made this year’s recipe contest a success!
